So it already feels like we have been students forever.
We’ve all been there – finally reach graduation and experience this fantastic, yet brief, feeling that we conquered the world and we are FINISHED!
But you know, just as well as we do, that teachers never stop learning.
We ourselves are very green teachers, just out of school and recently back to school! [One of us actually back in school for a PhD.] And we are so excited to be teaching and learning along side so many wonderful educators, of all levels and disciplines, who we can continuously learn from and build fantastic educational communities with!
We met in graduate school, went on to work in different areas in the field of Deaf Education, and one of us recently jumped into regular education as well! We strive to continue pushing ourselves outside of our comfort bubbles and continue learning as we go.
We created this blog to spread awareness of the field of Deaf Education, to join in on the current conversations in all areas of education, and to learn from fellow teachers of all areas and expertise!
Hi there! My name is Caitlyn and since graduate school I have taken on many different exciting roles that have each added some extra pizazz to my life! Some of those being military wife, substitute teacher, cat mama, early interventionist, 3rd round college student, and most recently – preschool teacher! My Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are both in Communication Sciences and Disorders – Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing [could that be any more of a mouthful?!] and I recently completely the requirements for regular education early childhood and elementary teaching certifications!
I also love to paint, build, sew and create lesson plan materials! I am a traveler, lover of camping, different cultures, reading, and sunshine. I am a cat mama to a very spoiled orange kitten. And I am so excited to chat with all of you and hope that you are able to take something enriching, funny, thought provoking, or just plain interesting away from our posts!
Hey! My name is Sonia and I am thrilled to meet you all! Not too long ago, I was an itinerant teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and as much as I loved being a teacher and working in the classroom, I found myself missing the lecture halls and pressures of graduate school [odd, I know!]. Currently, I am back in school pursuing a crazy yet exciting dream of mine which is to get a Ph.D in Special Education.
I love to curl up with a good book, embark on new adventures, spend time with family and snuggle with my spoiled but extremely lovable dog Chum Chum. In today’s climate, collaboration has become a necessity and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to share, discuss and learn with you all!
